Brisket?

Well this morning was interesting. I was completely embarassed when my familys friend came to clean the house and I was sleeping! and then to top it off the doorbell rings and usually I don't open it, but because it rang twice I felt that it might be important, so I answered the door to two younger looking guys asking to fix something on the house. Not cool since I wasn't really dressed. So now I've just finished packing for this weekend. I'm off to Stockholm in about 4 hours... hopefully:)
But before I can go to Stockholm, I have to go to my cooking class to make a Brisket.
<--This is what I'm hoping it will look like...

It was actually raining leaves!

I got to go into town today to meet up with a family friend, Cici. We went shopping for a little bit and went to eat lunch. A good day in town. On the way into town it literally felt like the sky was raining leaves. I even dodged some on the way:) It was kind of funny. When me and Cici were walking two girls came up to us to ask 5 questions:

  1. Do you believe kids use the computer more now than just 3 years ago?
  2. Do you ...i can't remember...?
  3. Do you think using the computer so much is a good or bad thing for the future?
  4. If there was a purchasable machine that could stop children from using the computer when parents weren't at home would you buy it?
  5. And how much would you pay for it?( I said 50 kr. and Cici said 1000 kr......)(6 kr.=1 dollar)

These questions made me really think about it...There is alot of time spent on the computer now a days. Just something to think about. We were at Cici's house for a while before I went to the movie and something scary happened. While we were upstairs we both heard footsteps and opening and shutting doors. A little creepy. First I thought it was someone in here family home. But when she called her dad, he said that we were the only two that were supposed to be at home.....Here mom ended up coming home to tell us that they were just ghosts and that thats what comes with living in an old house. So that was our creepy conclusion to a scary story:) Tonight was fun though I got to see Eagle Eye(Shia Lebouf!) with Bronte. I liked it alot, but then again what movie do I not like;)

Counting the Hours!

So i'm starting to feel that its time to get a jacket. But theres only one more day untill I go to the Venice of Sweden, STOCKHOLM!! I''m soo excited! i'm hoping that i might be able to find a jacket while i'm there:) hopefully...

Svenska

I woke up this morning to Kerstin, my school counselor, sending me a text message saying that today was going to be my first swedish class:) Yay, it took 2 months, but it finally came. The class is for people in sweden who have swedish as a second language. Theres definitely going to be some work, but its going to be fun...

Chinese food...

I love chinese food! I got to go to a Chinese restarant tonight called Ming. This isn't supposed to be one of those kind of reviews but it was really good:) Me and uncle had the Pap Thai(I think) and my cousin had some type of chicken dish with rise.

Here in Sweden, there aren't many nights where you get to eat out. Foods usually only made at home here. It's kind of expensive to eat out unless you go eat at McDonalds:)

There has been a treadmill meaning to be moved since I moved in, so my family thought it be a good time to do it now:) It would fit better downstairs in a big room than hiding upstairs behind the couch.
Before After
Another day filled with nothing. It's been more of a day for planning for tomorrow:)
I did get to see the new episode of The Hills!
Sad but the new episode of Gossip Girls doesn't come till next week.

måndag 6 oktober 2008

Not much has happened since this mornings post, but something else did happen, I thought someone had broken into the house! It turned out to just be an electrition here to fix something on the house. Creepy! And tonight I got to go to a Rotary meeting with Bronte. The food is always amazing there, at least to me it is. Bronte doesn't seem to enjoy the swedish food as much. Tonight was an exception though:) Other than that not much else to say. A good night sleep will be nice.

Bronte got a glass of water, and i thought it was fun that it said ABSOLUTE on it:)

A whole 15 min. late...

This week I have no school except for my cooking classes which are this morning and friday afternoon. So this morning my alarm clock(cell phone) went off at 6.15 but i turned it off and thought i would sleep a few extra minutes. I ended up waking up to my uncles voice asking if I was awake at 7.45. I usually leave at 7.40 on Monday mornings if I want to make it on time to class. I was kind of flipping out:) I ended making it to class, late.
This weeks cooking theme is international food, so why not make some food from Texas. I started thinking about just doing the simple hamburger, but then my teacher wanted something a little bit harder to do. Now I'm going to make a brisket. I've never even made a normal steak! Oh well, we'll have to see what happens on Friday:)

Sweden looks like this today^(don't be fooled by the blue sky though, it's freezing)

Bullens Dag!!!........a day late.....

I did it and they tasted like they should have:)

Lazy Sunday

There is rain in these^ picures I promise:)

Not so much for today's schedule. It turns out it was Bullens Day yesterday, a swedish pastry, there kind of like cinamon rolls but not as big. So today it's creme cakes' day. It's been raining all day today, so I thought why not make some of my own bullar:) I'm just hoping they all turn out ok.
This weekends movies:

I love movies! Camp Rock just had it's movie premiere Friday night(a little late). It's first premiere was on June 20! Last night we had another movie night and saw 4o year old virgin and employee of the month. Both of which the 3 people I was with had never heard of! They especially enjoyed the virgin movie, I think?

Random Thought of the Day: H&M is the greatest store in the world, but it doesn't seem like it can come to Texas. Kind of frustrating. I'm hoping by the time I come home they might have one there. But while I'm here in Sweden i'm going to enjoy it as much as possible:)

Correspondenten...

I woke up this morning to Anders calling me on my cell phone to ask where I was, when I was sleeping upstairs the whole time. It turned out that it was about 14.15 when he called. I can't even remember the last time I even woke up past 11!
In the newspaper I was astonished to see that my grandfather, Axel Wahlquist, was in the newspaper...cool!!

Grekiskt Paj

Yay for me learning to cook:) Maybe I'll be able to cook something eatable for my family by the time I get home! This Greek pie was made in my cooking class by me and another girl named Kristin. I thought it was really pretty, so I thought I would go ahead and take a pretty picture of it...>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Today I got to take a psychology test, where I thought I would be able to understand, but when she whipped out the 10 page packet I froze!

After the test though, I got totally served on USA and the rest of the world by Eric and Gustaf. They taught me more about the world than what I have learned since I've gotten here it feels like:) I didn't exactly feel very smart I must say...

Now its the weekend and I just had a movie night here at home...It became more of movie/game night. It was alot of fun. We started off the night with the end of the amazing Camp Rock and then ended up watching 21 and following the final movie of the night we played some, kind of like truth or dare but with cards and swedish. Oh and two of my friends, Klara and Christofer, got their drivers licencses today(may I remind you that they have been 18 for quite some time now).

The Sun Came Out for a Little While

My plan for today was to work out, but I ended up not getting that far. I had Physics this morning for 2 hours and a little break for Fika:) I got to leave early from class to walk into town to have a lunch with Rotary, my sponsors. The food was great, it was just hard to eat after the kids in my class brought such good sweets right before I left for the lunch... An exchange student student just came back from Japan and held a speech of her adventure there.
After I came back from the meeting I came back to school in time to have math class, where we got back the math tests we had just finished. The most points possible were 28 and I received a 4. I know impressive:) In Texas we use A, B, C, and F, while here they use MVG, VG, G, and IG(IG being the worst). I got a G-. I was exhausted, so I thought I would go ahead and take a nap, but I ended up falling asleep instead. I was so tired!!

1st Day of October

What it looked like today, but with alot more rain:)

Today was crazy!! Rained all day!! I got to school drenched..not soo fun. But after school Klara came over to have some tea and ended up looking at pictures from Texas and some of me from when I had crazy blonde curls. When she went to work I forced myself to work out, went for an hour and ended up going home to talk to my mom:) It's always fun to talk to my mom. At around 6ish I went to Brontes house to eat pizza and watch a movie. We saw School of Rock. It's amazing. I love Jack Black!!

Autumn Leaves

The leaves are falling pretty colors:)

Tomorrow Lovisa goes to Spain and Nina goes France for a week with their language classes. FUN!!! My spanish class got to go to a little Mexican restaurant down the street to order in Spanish:) Well I'm going to miss them and hope that the classes have a blast.Today I had Biology where we got to go look at trees in a park in the city. We had to look at some trees to see if there was fungus growing on them and clasify in what class they were in. Intressting stuff...Tonight was another episode for Idol 2008 for Sweden. Amazing!! It was guy night. Rasmus, Elias and Johan(the 14 year old) were definitely my favorites from the guys.

OH and then there was Gossip Girl and The Hills...Soo much drama!!!!

Great Song from 21!!

I started off the day going to cooking class at Anders Ljungstedts Gymanasium, this week we get to make vegetarian food, and then I got to ride my bike over to Katedral to have Chemistry where we had a lab with sourkrowt. yummy... After that we got to have Physics. Today was pretty much preparing for the big test my class is about to have. I got to leave a little early to go to our schools weekly meeting for all the exchange students to just check up on us to see if we're all ok and having fun. I got to leave school at 3:45ish(15.45). Thats when I got to catch up with one of the rotary chairmen to receive money for this month! Yay! I got to go to over to Lillgårds Skolan to pick up my cousin up from school. \/Where I saw this happen(Scary!!)\/

I ended up getting to make dinner for Calle. Ulla didn't come home till around 7:30 and Anders wasn't going to come home until Wednesday??
